What You Can Look Forward to in July
A book sale, guest posts from brilliant grad students, castle updates, and my thoughts on twitter
June blew up on me.
More accurately, the SBC blew up my June.
From my trip to the SBC archives, to the SBC 2023 convention, to my MSNBC op-ed and multiple social media appearances speaking about the SBC, to the orchestrated attempts on twitter to undermine my credibility because of said op-ed and multiple social media appearances, the SBC dominated the first few weeks of my summer.
Which has left me exhausted but also pretty certain I am on the right track. (Check out
interview with me for a sneak peek at my current research.)So while I am catching my breath (and finishing an article, my classes for Baylor in Great Britain, and two book chapters), let me tell you what I have scheduled for July.
First, I am excited that #MakingBiblicalWomanhood will be on sale for the first two weeks of July! $3.99 for the ebook! So gift it to your SBC friends and family and let’s see if maybe we can’t make some change before the 2024 convention :)
Second, while I’m teaching two summer classes I’m going to give you a glimpse of one of my classes from last Spring. I had the privilege of teaching seven brilliant students in my Women & Religion graduate seminar. You can look forward to three posts from that class—one highlighting some of the readings (more books to add to your list) and two highlighting the work of students. I don’t want to give too much away, but you are going to find their research pretty fascinating.
Finally, as I am able, I plan to give you some highlights from my trip in England, Wales, and Ireland. I have a few posts I need to finish on comparing the research methodology of Josh Butler with Sheila Gregoire (fun stuff!), the patriarchal bargain (long time coming), and why I made the decision to leave twitter (at least for a few months). But I imagine I will save those for my favorite month of August when I turn 48 and my marriage turns 26.
For my paid subscribers, I’m about to turn in a couple of book chapters, so I will give you a peek when I do.
Happy Summer, y’all!
