This feels like Groundhog Day (Deja vu, all over again!), which is really, really frustrating! I appreciate that you are keeping the heat of the spotlight on it—but I also know it can come at a cost.
I’ll be praying for you and for everyone who continues to raise the important issue of addressing clergy sexual abuse. And I’ll be praying for Baptist women in ministry. This is important work! Keep going!
This is so beyond discouraging. Im currently in an SBC church that just codified hard-core complementarianism into its bylaws a few weeks ago. As hard as it’s going to be to say goodbye to some people who we have dearly loved for 35+ years, it just feels as though it’s our time to walk away.
They rule that women can't be pastors, but they're totally ok putting women in unpaid/underpaid sub-roles of minister, director, counselor, and teacher. Arguing over the nuance of one word isn't being faithful, it's straining a gnat to swallow a camel.
