Oh, Beth, THANK YOU. I needed these words so much TODAY. I am in the midst of a small maelstrom because I recently taught that BOTH men and women were created equally in the image of God, the meaning of the Hebrew words for woman, Ezer Kenegdo in Gen 2, and called out the sin of Patriarchy in Scripture. Thank you for reminding me that the reason I continue on in my evangelical church is about JESUS, not the people in the church. Keep up the good words.

Dr. Barr, Thank you so much for your sermon. Twenty years ago I moved to a denomination that affirms women as preachers and pastors. Since then I have led, and have been led by, a number of amazing women in ministry but your affirmation of the reasons you continue in the faith is the best I have read from a preacher of either gender. Again, Thank you!

Thank you. I needed this today after a painful Sunday in my church. It is a hard time to be in the church for many of us. Pointing us back to Hebrews was a much-needed place of peace for me today. Will be praying for you and your family-for strength, rest, and shalom..

It IS a hard time to be in the church for many of us. True confession, I watched from my recliner yesterday because the weight of it was more than I could bear.

But, I tell myself daily that the reason things are hard and painful in many ways for women in the evangelical world right now is that God is on the move to bring His truth- all of it- into the full light of the church, and the devil is pushing as hard against it as possible. Women often get caught in the middle. But God WILL PREVAIL. His Word is good and true, and He is at work!

I personally like “messages” from our minister. Preach always reminds me of hell fire and brimstone. Message or reflection is a sharing of thoughts.

Thank you. I am sort of on the fence. My faith has taken a beating by white Christian nationalists. I have wondered if I truly want to recover. I do appreciate very much your lesson.
