I think the book's success may surprise you. Hashim W commented on FB (in the book launch group) that you seem to have gotten past a "cloud of critics in your head". Your social media presence this past year has been more determined and confident I think. When one puts your thesis together with Kristin's abuse documentary and the many freely available clips of theobro sermon pathology, it's not hard to see that evangelicals have got a real and systemic problem with the way we view and value women. And it's a lot bigger than debating a few bible verses. I'm certainly gonna talk up your work to anyone who will listen - and I think a whole lot of others will too.

I need 10-15 copies. Is Baker Books the best place to order? (TBH, we've been having the conversation: order now or wait for a paperback? Many older friends have arthritis and struggle more with hardback books.) I pre-ordered and love the book. Thank you for doing this.

oh, wow! Honestly I don’t know if there will be a paperback? That depends on how the first run does. So it won’t be for a year or more at best, if ever. Baker Bookhouse definitely does the best for larger orders!

A year would be far too long to wait! I need them to read it now so I have someone to talk to about this wonderful book!

I ordered 15 more copies from Baker Bookhouse - there was 40% off with the code PODCAST40. I encourage everyone who thinks their book group will want to read this book this year to go ahead and order now for the greatest impact!

I pre-ordered the book from my local bookstore in the Netherlands and got a message it arrived yesterday! I thought that was pretty fast! Will be picking it up soon. Will let several friends in New Zealand know about this book once I read it, as I shared your first book with them and left my copy behind with them when I recently moved country. Looking forward to reading your book and listening to the podcast.

I loved your first book. Opened my eyes to US churches. Helped me understand more. I’ve never felt under the authority of man but of God. I’m who He made me to be!!!

I didn't know about sophomore book syndrome--bummer. But you're posting on Instagram & FB almost daily, starting this great podcast "All the Buried Women"--you're standing up for all the women who tried the pastor's wife approach to ministry and found it to be a very small box. The word is getting out to more and more evangelicals. Praise be to God! It helps that the two book covers are similar in color and layout--like two volumes of a trilogy. They both have "nice" titles with dramatic subtitles too--well done.

Oh, thank you! Honestly, the book is doing fine. But I have seen it more challenging to get visibility. But I think it will grow over time. I have learned that this first week is very important, though, to keep long term visibility. The book business is hard! :)

BTW-you will really like the ATBW episode tomorrow. I’m so excited about it.

The book business is so unnecessarily hard. As a podcaster who interviews many authors and gets advanced copies of books, it grieves me how so many books get published or sell many copies without much of substance to say because not all of those with much of substance to say spend a lot of time on social media growing followers. It's a bit upside down. So, I try to make comments, repost and do what I can, even though I hate social media myself... I hope this book gets into many, many hands and hearts.

Placed my order earlier today! Thank you so much for your work. It has been such a blessing to me and my family. Also I caught the first episode of your podcast. It’s fascinating! You give me hope that my 8-year old girl will be so much more free than I was growing up in a pretty fundamentalist church that was very similar to the SBC.

Excited for your book launch, this shocking/infuriating/inspiring book getting out into the world, and for episode 2 of the podcast. Episode one was a deeper dive into one of my favorite parts of the book- the patron saint (no spoilers here). Also, having parents at that SBC convention with that audio when I was a little MK is a lived experience that needs to be told. For those of us women in SBC ministry, IYKYK...
